Crone: Reclaiming the Old Wise Woman

Crone was once a respectful title for elderly women. Crone comes from the word “crown”, indicating wisdom emanating from the head. The word hag comes from “hagio” meaning ‘holy’. Virtually every ancient culture in the world had female deities. Some existed in 3 phases: the Maiden, the Mother, the Crone. Each phase has its own developmental task.

The task of the Crone is sharing wisdom that has been gained from a  lifetime of experiences along with insight and heightened awareness into human nature.  Spiritually, this is the Mastery phase.  It is a time of reaching into one’s spiritual depths, utilizing one’s intuition, and finding meaning in visions from our dreams.
